Chapter Eight

The only reason why Daren wanted Vaughn in his bedroom was because he didn’t feel like escorting the man back to his prison and locking him inside, rushing back to his room to get the things they would be needing, and then going back again.

This way was quicker, and if Marrok found out and tried to scold him for his decision to bring Vaughn into his room where the windows were not barred, the door would not be locked, and all sorts of other things were not in place to handle a prisoner, then he could stuff it.

Daren could always keep an eye on the other man like this, and just because they would be sharing a bed for an hour or so didn’t mean that he would allow Vaughn to try to manipulate him into spending the night or something.

Despite how amazing that would be. Even he knew that couldn’t be risked, Vaughn would have to be returned to his room after they were finished in Daren’s. Daren was still not yet convinced that Vaughn would not tell his human friends how vulnerable Daren’s family was the moment he escaped.

He would like to believe that. The way the man pressed his body against Daren’s every time they so much as stopped in the hallway of the mansion for one more kiss made it difficult for Daren to keep his wits about him, but he knew he must stay on edge.

Daren’s bedchamber was not much different from the guest room that Vaughn was spending his time in. Aside from the added furniture, none of which was nailed down, the television, as well as several other items he possessed that would make it known to anyone that someone lived in this room, there was no difference at all.

Most of the bedchambers in the mansion were of the same size, with the exception of the master chamber, which Tristan now slept in, and some of the smaller guest rooms that had no adjoining bathrooms, which used to belong to Frederik, Daren, and Tristan before the deaths of their father and eldest brother shifted power in the house.

Now Daren lived in this larger chamber, and Frederik would have his own larger room as well, if he were alive and willing to come home, that was.

He immediately pushed the thought of his missing brother out of his mind when Vaughn kicked the door to his room shut behind him. There was a skeleton key sitting in the lock, and he quickly turned it to allow them both some privacy before pouncing on him again.

Heated moans left their mouths as they all but devoured each other. This was exactly what Daren had yearned for ever since Vaughn’s fever had left him. Even before then, when he’d first seen the human, shivering and ill in one of the old cells in the basement, he knew that Vaughn was exceptionally handsome.

That hadn’t turned into full-on fisting his cock in the shower lust until the man had come to his senses, however, and the fire had first entered his eyes.
